“Experts practice differently and far more strategically.  When they fail, they don’t blame it on luck or themselves.  They have a strategy they can fix.”

BILL RENNER'S SERVICES

Individual Instruction

Coach Renner does a limited number of individual lessons since his primary position is being the head football coach at East Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, NC.

If you work with Coach Renner you will have to train with him on a consistent training schedule.  He does not like to just do sporadic lessons.  He has a specific detailed training sequence that he goes through and he likes to complete that process with the players he works with.  This is why he trains a limited number of people.  Some athletes simply don’t want to do all the work which he has for them and is necessary for them to reach their full potential.

Training with Coach Renner requires being on a 5-6-day a week training regime for which you will follow a specific detailed workout plan for each day, on your own*.   You will have a preplanned day-to-day training manual that you will follow.  You can see sample workouts at the links below.

*Coach Renner only works with athletes once a month.  He expects you to do his prescribed workouts on your own and develop the personal discipline it takes to reach elite level status.  When you come back in a month he will know if you have done the training or not.

Individual Instruction Training Purpose

Coach Renner’s intention is to help the athlete realize beyond what he believes is his full potential.  This requires a detailed individual daily plan and an athlete with the passion and will to do the daily work.   The amount of prescribed training that is necessary to achieve this level of expertise sometimes overwhelms the athlete’s expectations for themselves.

Coach Renner’s individual training program is not for everyone.   His high school and college training manuals, found on this web site, will serve most athletes needs very well.  However, for those who strive to be their best or reach elite level status then master coaching with Coach Renner is necessary.

Coach Renner also likes the athletes he trains individually to read about the elite athlete training process and recommends two books in particular, Talent is Never Enough by John Maxwell and The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle.

Initial Individual Instruction Workout Procedures

An initial training session with Coach Renner consists of:

  1. Arriving on a Friday some time after 4pm and leaving on Sunday after 4pm.
  2. On Friday, Coach Renner will pick you up, take you to hotel then you will go out and eat with him and talk about the weekend training regime and training in general.
  3. On Saturday morning, you will workout in the AM and learn the core drill sequence for your desired skill, kicking or punting.  On Saturday afternoon you will watch video of the AM workout and establish technique adjustment training regime.   After the video review, you will discuss your morning training session and where you are in ability level and what level he can get you to.  On Saturday night, you will go to dinner and talk about a training schedule from this point forward.
  4. On Sunday morning, you will workout in the AM then watch the video after lunch.  Before you leave you will finalize future training dates and plans.  Coach Renner will then take you to the airport.
  5. After you leave, Coach Renner will type your daily workout plans in a manual format and send them to you.

If this type of self-commitment to a rigorous training program is of interest to you then you can contact Coach Renner for his available dates, times and fee.    He will also have you fill-out a questionnaire in order to determine your mind set readiness prior to agreeing to initiate your personal training regime.

You can email Coach Renner of your interest at brenner404@aol.com and put “individual instruction” in the subject line.
