|High School Punters In-Season Workout Book
As important as the punter is to field position he needs to have a comprehensive practice plan just as the other position groups have that will insure he will be ready to perform. Punter’s practices do not have to be whatever the punter wants to do. You can logically sequence the number of punts, the situation to punt and the field position to punt from to best prepare him for game competition.
Structure like this along with charting the punt will give the coach essential information regarding the strengths and weaknesses of his punter. This workout book takes care of this for the coach and punter! It is a complete practice plan that will make the punter successful. It has:
*Specific Workouts with charts for college punters!
*DAILY practice plans for the ENTIRE preseason AND in-season!
This workout book will provide the high school punter with a complete in-season practice plan. A daily charting system accompanies each practice for the punter to record their workout. The charting system will allow the coach and player to see strengths and weaknesses. Workout record keeping in the weight room has proven to be an effective training tool. This charting system mimics that concept for punters. EACH punter needs their own workout book to record their workouts!
WHY a Punters In-Season Workout Book
Every athlete needs to have a detailed practice plan in order to insure that he will develop and perform his skills successfully on game day. Failure to have such a plan will result in a "trial and error" performance. This prevents an athlete from developing to his maximum potential and helping the team win.
WHAT a Punters In-Season Workout Book WILL Do
These in-season practice workout books provide a daily workout for a punter. It begins with the first day of preseason practice and continues until the final game of the season. Each day has a planned workout for the punter. It specifies the number of punts, type of punt, hang time, coffin corner, or drive punt to work on for that day.
Workout Book Structure
Each practice has a chart for recording the workout. At the end of a week is a Weekly Summary Chart of the punts for that week. This allows the coach to review the performance of the punter for that week and make decisions for game day utilization.
A Total Summary Chart which keeps a cumulative total of the punts is also tallied from week to week. The punters charting information includes spiral punts, distance punts, hang time punts, coffin corner right and left punts, handling time punts and out-of-end zone punts. As the weeks go by a significant number of punts accumulate to be able to accurately assess the punters’ ability which the coach can use to put him in a position to be successful on game day.
The workout books practice plan is structured to build toward maximum performance on game day. Heavy workouts are done on Monday through Wednesday tapering toward a Friday game day. A separate section details a practice plan for a Saturday game and a workout week for the playoffs.
This punters’ workout program has been tried and tested by Coach Bill Renner during his 20+ years as a coach. Coach Renner has trained high school, college and professional kickers for over 25 years.
