High School Football Coach

Punting and Kicking Coaching Bill Renner:

 Is recognized nationally as an expert in coaching punters and kickers.

 Has written a nationally recognized book entitled “Kicking the Football” which details a      curriculum for players and coaches on how to teach punting and kicking.

 Has a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology from Virginia Tech, 1983.

 Wrote his Master’s thesis on punting “Selected Physical Performance Factors and      Football      Punting Ability” on what makes the ball go high and far.

 Had his last two kickers at West Springfield have gone on to full-scholarships to NC State,  Josh      Czjakowski, and West Virginia, Tyler Bitancurt.

  Had his former West Springfield punter started at Penn State for four years on scholarship and       is currently punting for Green Bay Packers, Jeremy Kapinos.

 Has coached or worked with 6 current NFL punters: Steve Weatherford, Jaguars; Sam      Koch,      Ravens; Kyle Larson, Bengals, Glenn Pakulak, Saints, Brett Kern, Broncos; Jeremy      Kapinos,      Packers.

 Directed his own kicking camp company, “4th Down Sports” for 20 years where he      designed      the punting and kicking training curriculum for numerous athletes who attended the      camp,      as well as, training the coaching staff on the specifics of the punting and kicking      teaching      progression.

 Directed a Pro Combine training camp, as part of 4th Down Sports, that prepared      kickers and      punters for the NFL and the NFL Combine which included current NFL      kickers, Josh Brown,      Rams, Neil Rackers, Cardinals, Shayne Graham, Bengals, some of      the aforementioned      punters.

 Has worked as a kicking consultant to run kicking camps or consult for John Mackovic,      Texas, Nick Saban, LSU and Michigan State, Lou Holtz, South Carolina, Frank Beamer,      Virginia  Tech, Al Groh, Virginia, Lou Tepper, Illinois, Lloyd Carr, Michigan, John      Harbaugh, Philadelphia Eagles, Greg McMahon, New Orleans Saints, Scott Cohen, New      York      Jets, etc.

 Was a running back/punter in college at Virginia Tech and for two credited NFL seasons with      the Green Bay Packers. In addition, he was in training camp with the Minnesota Vikings,      Chicago Bears and New York Jets.

High School Coaching.

 Has 25 years as a high school football coach.
     
 Has spent 20 of his 25 years as a Head Football coach in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC      Metro area.

 Has been a head coach at 3 high schools in those 20 years at Fairfax County: Mt     Vernon,      Langley and West Springfield.

 Spent the last 10 years at West Springfield HS from 1999-2008.

 Has won 101 games in 20 years as a head coach.

 Finished as the all-time winning coach at two of the three high schools he has been the head      coach for: Langley and West Springfield.

 Was the 1998 Northern Region Coach of the Year while at Langley HS.

 Coached Langley High School to a district title and 2 playoff appearances in 5 years which are      the most in school history.

 Coached West Springfield to back-to-back district titles in 2007 and 2008 which is the     first      time in school history (42 years).

 Coached West Springfield to regional title game (state final 8) in 2007 and region final four      (state final 16) in 2008 for the first time in school history for back-to-back final fours.

 had his teams posted 4 of the top 10 seasons in West Springfield football history from     2002- 2008.

 Has sent over 15 players from West Springfield on to play in college.

 Has coached/developed two Elite 11 QB’s in the from 2005-2008:
          o Peter Lalich, Oregon State
          o Bryn Renner, North Carolina

Additionally:

 His 5-Wide Attack Spread Offense has passed for 11,690 yards and 122 TD’s and rushed     for     7,591 yards and 84 TD’s from 2005-2008.

 His 5-Wide Attack Spread Offense produced receiving, passing and rushing leaders in the     Northern Region (32 teams) and the Washington DC Metro area for from 2005-2008.

 Is noted for taking under achieving programs and making them successful.
